The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze, presented personal computers to 213 tenth-grade students from public schools in the Kakheti region. The event was held on November 8, the birthday of the great Georgian writer, poet, publicist, and public figure Ilia Chavchavadze, at his House-Museum.
This year, a total of 1,626 successful students across Georgia are being awarded computers. In 2014, the beneficiaries of the program were defined as public school students who completed the basic education stage in the past academic year and achieved a grade point average of 10 points without rounding.
The student encouragement project implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is carried out annually and aims to increase student motivation and strengthen teaching and learning methods based on information and communication technologies. Increasing the accessibility of modern technologies provides talented and hardworking youth with even greater opportunities to achieve success.
