"Challenges of the Education Quality Assurance System and Ways for Improvement"
At the conference, Council of Europe experts Ligija Deca and Achim Hopbach reviewed the existing education quality assurance mechanisms in Georgia. Elene Jibladze, Director of the Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, spoke about the changes in the higher education quality assurance system in Georgia.
Representatives of Georgian higher education institutions and education specialists were invited to the conference, who, together with the Council of Europe experts, discussed ways to refine the education quality assurance mechanism. Quality improvement represents one of the main directions of the long-term policy of education and science. The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement strives to refine these mechanisms so that the Georgian educational system and the quality of higher education are compatible with the European standards.
It is necessary for the country to have a well-functioning quality assurance system that relies on local needs and takes international trends into account. In this direction, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of the Ministry is actively working together with international experts. Currently, based on the recommendations of the Council of Europe experts, the revision of authorization and accreditation standards and the refinement of the process are underway.
"Our objective is to increase confidence in higher education both within the country and beyond its borders. Higher education must be attractive to both Georgian and international students and facilitate the participation of students and academic personnel in international exchange programs," stated Elene Jibladze.
