A new scheme was discussed at Gori State University
Within the framework of the meeting, the main emphasis was placed on such an important direction of the teacher professional development scheme as teacher preparation at the university level and the launch of new Bachelor-Master educational academic programs. A presentation of the electronic teacher evaluation system was also delivered at the meeting.
The launch of new university programs was necessitated by the need to attract highly qualified personnel to general education institutions of Georgia, given that previously, the process of teacher training in the country was fragmented and there was no coherent, unified system for teacher preparation and evaluation. The new system will foster young people's interest in the pedagogical field, increase the number of applicants wishing to become teachers, and serve to elevate the prestige of the teaching profession.
Based on the scheme, the newly developed higher education programs will prepare qualified pedagogical personnel at universities, and the state is ready to invest certain resources in funding their studies.
The new Scheme for Teacher Entry into Profession, Professional Development, and Career Advancement is a unified system. Based on the implementation of the new scheme, student learning outcomes will improve, we will obtain a strengthened and retrained corps of educators, and most importantly, qualified personnel will be integrated into the system right from the start.
