Child Care Standard Will Be Developed
The purpose of the meeting was to agree upon the indicative framework for child care standards in the educational component of boarding schools within the education system, as well as the key issues regarding the rule for issuing boarding service licenses. This is necessary because Government of Georgia Resolution No. 66 of January 15, 2014, "On the Technical Regulation on Child Care Standards," does not apply to specialized educational and upbringing institutions within the education system. The parties agreed on inter-agency cooperation to maintain a unified state framework and to extend the care standard to all boarding schools, taking their specific nature into account.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers of Education and Science of Georgia - Lia Gigauri and Giorgi Sharvashidze; Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Giorgi Tavadze; Deputy Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia Zaza Sopromadze; Head of the Guardianship, Care and Social Programs Department of the Social Service Agency Mari Tsereteli; as well as representatives from the Public Defender's Office, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
