Statement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia responds to the attendance of school students at a film screening organized by the non-governmental organization "All Generations for Georgia" in Samegrelo and clarifies that, in accordance with Orders N290, N291 and N292 of Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, the Internal Audit Department of the Ministry has already launched an inspection of the Zugdidi, Khobi and Poti resource centers and the schools under their jurisdiction.
The Ministry considers the incident to be a gross violation of children's rights, as the school is an apolitical organization, and any manifestation of the politicization of the school is fundamentally unacceptable to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and all public institutions under its jurisdiction.
The Ministry categorically opposes exposing children and adolescents to inappropriate, heavy-content information. Accordingly, teachers, directors, school administration and resource centers are obligated to protect children's rights, school internal regulations, and the law, and no violation thereof will be excused.
The Ministry is working intensively to determine how the children came to attend the film screening, and if it is confirmed that agency representatives participated in this process in any form, appropriate measures will be taken in the shortest possible time.
