The Future Camp was solemnly opened
The "Future Camp" has officially opened in Anaklia. The official opening ceremony of the camp was attended by Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tariel Khechikashvili, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, and invited guests. The Olympic flame was also brought in during the opening ceremony.
The first group of the "Future Camp" will host 288 young people aged 12-18, selected by the Georgian Children and School Youth National Sports Federation through the "Sports Olympiad". The remaining 5 groups were selected based on the following criteria:
1. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia nominated 1,246 candidates with high academic achievements, with priority given to students from socially vulnerable, internally displaced, and large families;
2. The Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Diaspora Issues will ensure the travel of 144 compatriots living abroad;
3. The Crime Prevention Center of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia nominated 50 adolescents aged 14-18.
The safe transportation of participants (from their point of origin to Anaklia and from Anaklia back to their point of origin) will be provided by patrol police crews. Additionally, employees of the "Emergency Management Agency" will ensure the safety of the children within the territory of the "Future Camp".
Young people participating in the project will go through specially designed modules (role-playing games, discussions, practical exercises) covering human and children's rights, ecology, hygiene, and the history of Georgia. They will participate in sports activities based on Olympic principles. Employees of the Emergency Management Agency will teach teenagers rescue operations and the art of emergency management.
The aim of the program is to provide active recreation for youth living in and outside of Georgia through various cultural, educational, entertaining, and cognitive events, to offer them opportunities for non-formal education, to enhance their physical, spiritual, and intellectual potential, to promote social integration, a healthy lifestyle, and to support the integration of ethnic minorities living in Georgia.
Throughout the summer, the "Future Camp" will host 1,728 teenagers.
