Memorandum on Ensuring an Inclusive Electoral Environment

For the upcoming parliamentary elections, provided that appropriate buildings exist, the document envisages the allocation of facilities for polling stations that will be accessible to all voters. The memorandum also notes that in the absence of such buildings, a facility must be allocated for the polling station which the transferring body will ensure is adapted by voting day (pursuant to the requirement of Article 58, Paragraph 1¹ of the Organic Law of Georgia "Election Code of Georgia").

By signing the memorandum, the parties agreed to fulfill the norms outlined in the 2014-2016 Government Action Plan regarding ensuring equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. Through this agreement, they also fulfill the requirements of Article 9 (Accessibility) and Article 29 (Participation in Political and Public Life) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of December 13, 2006.
