The desired profession is accessible to anyone
To promote inclusive vocational education, a fashion show titled "Me and Professions" was held at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science and the organization "Babale". The show featured adolescents with special educational needs and disabilities, vocational college students, and their friends. They wore outfits representing various professions created by well-known Georgian designers and presented them to the gathered audience.
The main message of the "Me and Professions" event was to promote vocational education and emphasize that any profession can be accessible to any person.
The project "Me and Professions" is innovative because it brought together people from completely different fields, with diverse interests and abilities:
- The idea was authored by the Ministry of Education and Science and the organization "Babale";
- Well-known designers were involved in bringing the idea to life: Salome Gvinianidze, Avtandil, Lalo Cardigan, Aka Nanitashvili, Anuki Areshidze, Maka Khardziani, and others;
- Vocational colleges actively participated in sewing the garments: the Gldani Professional Training Center and "Mermisi";
- Photo and video shooting were carried out by students and graduates of vocational institutions;
- The main protagonists were students of vocational institutions, including students with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as school students;
- The event was organized by the company "Fashion Charm";
- The shadow theatre was involved in providing the artistic aspect of the show.
The event coincided with the registration process for vocational education training programs and concluded the week dedicated to World Down Syndrome Day. Most importantly, the show echoed this year's message: "My Friends โ My Environment".
The principle of diversity and inclusiveness was upheld during the organization of "Me and Professions", creating a good precedent for establishing adequate attitudes and mindsets in society. Every individual involved in preparing the show learned something new and shared experiences with others that were previously unfamiliar to them.
