"School Self-Assessment for Development" - First Summary Meeting
The participants of the project "School Self-Assessment for Development" – public school principals and education specialists involved in the project – held their first summary meeting. The meeting was opened by Lia Gigauri, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, and Maia Miminoshvili, Director of the National Assessment and Examinations Center.
The meeting focused on two main directions: the principals, who became acquainted with international experience within the framework of the project, spoke about internal school assessment and development systems (in Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark). A discussion was also held regarding the challenges and opportunities existing in Georgian schools.
"School Self-Assessment for Development" is a three-year project implemented by the National Assessment and Examinations Center with the financial support of the Millennium Challenge Fund - Georgia and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
The aim of the project is to develop school self-assessment and development system models for Georgian schools in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning in natural sciences and mathematics.
15 schools are involved in the "School Self-Assessment for Development" project, which is being implemented in three stages: the first stage included working meetings and study tours organized by invited experts in Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands. The second stage (which is currently ongoing) involves the development and piloting of assessment and development models tailored to the needs of the schools. The final stage provides for research, as well as the sharing of acquired knowledge and experience.
