Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, together with education ministers and officials from nearly a hundred countries, is participating in the World Education Forum, which opened in London on January 21.
Within the framework of his official visit, Mikheil Chkhenkeli will hold meetings with his counterparts from various countries as well as with education experts.
Today, a meeting was held with British vocational education expert Andrew Hall, where the parties shared their experience in the field of vocational education. The parties discussed both the importance of employer involvement in vocational education and ways to promote vocational education among youth.
According to Mikheil Chkhenkeli, it is essential to change the public attitude toward vocational education in order to make it attractive and prestigious. To this end, a large-scale information campaign has already been planned, highlighting best practices that clearly demonstrate how vocational education has transformed the future of students.
The Minister presented future initiatives to the foreign expert, according to which it is planned to connect vocational colleges with higher education institutions in Georgia. Specifically, colleges will be linked to universities, and if a student wishes to transition to a university bachelor's program after acquiring a vocational education or in parallel with it, they will be able to do so easily. Such an approach will significantly enhance the prestige of vocational education and the attitude toward it.
At the end of the meeting, the parties also discussed the twinning of Georgian and British vocational colleges, which will allow students to participate in exchange programs and deepen their education and experience in a British college.
