The National Bank of Georgia Announces an Open Painting Competition for Children on the Theme of Georgian Money

Within the framework of the "Year of Financial Education" and "Global Money Week", the National Bank of Georgia, with the involvement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, announces an open drawing contest for children and adolescents on the theme of Georgian currency, entitled "Future President of the National Bank".

The purpose of the drawing contest is to encourage children and adolescents to reflect on the history, functions, and significance of Georgian currency, and to provide them with the opportunity to creatively present their own vision and attitude towards financial matters. In this regard, the aforementioned contest fully resonates with the 2018 Global Money Week message: "Money Matters Matter".

Any student from the 2nd to 7th grades across Georgia can participate in the drawing contest. Within the framework of the contest, participants must draw a Georgian banknote or coin of any denomination currently in circulation, using either the existing design or one created through their own imagination, and submit their works to the school administration no later than February 28.

The 20 best works nationwide will be selected by a competent jury consisting of representatives from the National Bank, the Ministry of Education, and invited experts. The works will be published in the annual report of the National Bank and exhibited in the lobby of the National Bank. In addition, the winning young participants will be hosted by the National Bank on an excursion to the Kvareli Money Museum, where the children will get acquainted with the history of money, listen to an interesting lecture on financial education, and receive symbolic gifts.

"Engaging youth in dialogue around financial matters is very important so that they develop financially healthy habits and attitudes from an early age, and learn critical thinking and how to ask questions. Within the framework of the drawing contest, our goal is to prompt young people to think about financial issues and encourage them to present their vision and attitude through art regarding both Georgian currency and the role and significance of money in general. We urge young artists to demonstrate creativity and imagination, study the banknotes and coins in circulation, and show Georgia what Georgian currency would look like if they were the President of the National Bank. We believe that the works presented by the children will become a source of inspiration for the National Bank in the process of developing and refining Georgian currency," stated Koba Gvenetadze, President of the National Bank of Georgia.
