Mikheil Chkhenkeli: "Not a single student of the university whose authorization has been suspended will be left without an educational institution"
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli responded to the results of the monitoring of higher education institutions, emphasizing that this process serves to raise the quality of education in universities and provide opportunities to acquire genuine knowledge.
According to the Minister, education is one of the top priorities in the government's four-point reform plan, and therefore, the Ministry will do everything possible to ensure that the diploma received by students serves as proof of high-quality education:
“The purpose of the authorization/accreditation process is to ensure that the public, students, and their parents are not deceived, and that they know students will receive quality education in a state-recognized higher education institution,” Chkhenkeli explained.
The Minister also stated that the Ministry approaches the authorization and accreditation processes with special attention, taking into account the interests of all parties and objective circumstances, which provides an opportunity for development and renewal for many higher education institutions. However, those that fail to meet the established standards will not receive authorization.
The Minister addressed the youth, assuring them that no student will be left without higher education. Taking their interests into account, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement will provide extraordinary mobility for students of those higher education institutions whose authorization has been terminated. Students will be able to distribute themselves among various higher educational institutions according to their preferences, in which the Center will assist them through consultations and communication with the institutions.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli expressed his readiness to personally meet with the students of universities whose authorization has been suspended today and discuss this issue in more detail.
