Mikheil Chkhenkeli met with DAAD representatives
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a meeting with the Vice President of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) - Prof. Joibrato Mรผckergi, as well as the Head of Foreign Affairs Department of Gisen University โJulia Foltz and the Head of DAAD Tbilisi Information Center - Gebhard Raul.
During the meeting, Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli positively evaluated the long-term cooperation with the German side, based on hundreds of successful Georgian students, PhD students and scientists having a vast opportunity to study, research or qualify in Germany. On the other hand, professor Mukhirjim noted that a large number of German students and scientists are now willing to arrive in Georgia and the number of applicants increases every year.
During the meeting, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia put forth an initiative that enables the students of vocational education to also participate in numerous exchange programs in Germany. Additionally, the issue of recognizing the Georgian diplomas by the German government was also discussed during the meeting. Despite the fact, that a problem regarding the diploma recognition rarely arises at an individual level, there is a certain degree of difficulty encountered by the graduates of private educational institutions of Georgian when applying in Germany. The German side will study the issue extensively.
Furthermore, the parties discussed the issues related to the participation of Georgia at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Supplementary meetings were planned at the DAAD central office.
