Dimitri Shashkin inspected the "Tbilisi Green School"

"Tbilisi Green School" was established a few months ago as a result of the privatization of Public School No. 134 and successfully completed the authorization procedure. According to the undertaken commitments, a free contingent of students will study at the school annually. Currently, the school has up to 650 students enrolled, of which more than 350 receive education free of charge.
"Tbilisi Green School" is one of the best in Georgia in terms of infrastructure. The school features two modern libraries, classrooms equipped with the latest technology, and laboratories. Situated in a beautiful century-old courtyard spanning 1.5 hectares are a tennis court, open sports grounds, a basketball hall, a cafeteria, as well as various open gazebos and squares designated for educational and upbringing purposes.
The academic staff of "Tbilisi Green School" is staffed by top-tier certified teachers. A school officer service (Mandaturi) operates at the school alongside a modern autonomous security and safety system. Parents are continuously informed about their children's academic success and location via the internet and text messages.
The example of School No. 134 has demonstrated that the project involving the introduction of private investors into public schools is successful, and the goals set by the Ministry have been achieved within the framework of this project.
In order to improve the quality of teaching and infrastructure in schools, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia developed a project for introducing private investors into public schools.
Schools that were designed for a large number of students, but where not even a third of that number were studying, were transferred to private investors under certain conditions. On the one hand, the state undertakes the obligation to transfer a specific public school to a private entity in exchange for a certain fee; on the other hand, the private school is obligated not to change its profile, and only an educational institution may function in the building. In addition, a free contingent will remain permanently. Specifically, every year, such schools will accommodate the exact same number of students as the investor found upon entering the school.
In the private school equipped with modern standards, priority will mainly be given to students from socially vulnerable families, and they will enjoy the exact same privileges as the students of the private school. As for the funds paid by private investors, they will not go to the state budget, but will instead be used to develop the infrastructure of nearby schools.
