The President of Georgia opened the renovated vocational college in Ozurgeti

Specialties at "Horizon" were selected based on the priority plan for the economic development of the Guria region. The college gives all interested individuals the opportunity to study, work, become professionals, and get employed in their own region. Generally, the employment rate of graduates from vocational colleges nationwide is 75%.
The vocational college of modern standards operates in the following specialties: tractor-machinist, electrician, chassis technician, carpenter, computer networks and systems technician, accounting, forester, plant protection technician, tour guide, felt artisan, tailor, cook, stylist, and enamel artisan.
In parallel with the development of the resort zone and restaurant network in the Guria region, the demand for qualified tour guides and cooks is increasing. There is a high demand for tractor drivers; a tractor fleet is being built in Ozurgeti, which will serve the region with several dozen tractors of various types. Qualified machinists for the fleet will be retrained precisely at "Horizon."
A hydroelectric power plant operates in Ozurgeti, and the construction of five new HPPs has already begun in the Guria region. Consequently, the demand for qualified electricians is increasing. Graduates of the forestry group are employed in the forestry districts belonging to the Guria Forestry Department. Cutting and sewing specialists are employed at the Bobokvati sewing factory. The construction of a sewing factory is also planned in Ozurgeti.
Up to 500 students are registered at the Ozurgeti Vocational College. The process of registration and issuing the 1,000 GEL voucher is still ongoing.
Today, vocational education is a state priority; accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is carrying out significant reforms in terms of the development of vocational education. The Ministry cares both about the improvement and rehabilitation of the material and technical base of colleges, and about ensuring that the personnel trained by vocational educational institutions meet the demands of the labor market.
