Distribution of Insurance Vouchers

Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkin visited the public school in the village of Akhalkalaki, Kaspi District, and handed over insurance vouchers to the school's teachers and administrative-technical staff.

The Minister personally explained the insurance terms to them: each beneficiary will have the opportunity to receive up to 25 thousand GEL in free medical services during the coming year. Educators are free to choose their insurance company.

Upon receiving the insurance vouchers, public school teachers, administrative-technical staff, and educators from other educational institutions will select their preferred insurance company from December 15 to December 31, 2009. Within the framework of the six-year insurance program, nearly 19 million GEL has been allocated in the 2010 budget for approximately 83 thousand beneficiaries (amounting to 15 GEL per month for each educator).

"One of the most important priorities of our ministry is caring for teachers. The distribution of insurance vouchers will be completed within this week. I would like to ask all of you to carefully review the terms of the various companies and only then make your choice. I, in turn, promise you that we will strictly monitor the fulfillment of the insurance terms," the Minister noted.

Dimitri Shashkin also spoke with local educators about the existing problems in the education system and future plans.
