Successful German-Georgian Cooperation
Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, is on an official visit to Georgia. Today, accompanied by Ketevan Natriashvili, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, he visited the Spektri Vocational College.
The Parliamentary State Secretary met with college representatives and reviewed implemented and ongoing projects in the field of vocational education within the framework of German-Georgian cooperation.
Using Spektri as an example, Mr. Fuchtel also familiarized himself with new teaching methods introduced in vocational education, toured the training workshops, and attended a seminar for electric welding instructors. Within the framework of a Georgian-German project, the college is hosting training for electric welding instructors from seven vocational institutions operating across Georgia, titled “Improvement of Construction Specialties in Georgia.” The 3-week training is being conducted for the instructors by a German expert.
Within the framework of the Georgian-German project, elements of the dual education system have been introduced at Spektri. Through close cooperation with production and business sectors, this system ensures that theoretical education corresponds to the requirements needed for entering the profession in the future, while on the other hand, vocational students directly familiarize themselves with the work process by spending a portion of their practical training directly in enterprises. According to Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, he welcomes and supports the initiative implemented by Spektri and German enterprises “Caparol,” “HeidelbergCement,” and “Knauf.”
Plans for the future include an even closer alignment with the successfully operating “dual system” in Germany, which provides for parallel education in enterprises and educational institutions.
