The Prime Minister at the National Centre of Manuscripts

The Government is initiating the development and expansion of the National Centre of Manuscripts, – stated Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili today during his visit to the National Centre of Manuscripts.

The design of the new building will be completed by the end of the year, and construction of the new building for the National Centre of Manuscripts will commence next year.

The Head of Government, together with the Ministers of Education and Culture, viewed the unique exhibits preserved in the Centre's depositories and received information about them from Buba Kudava, Director of the National Centre of Manuscripts.

"There are no conditions here whatsoever, there are no climatic conditions and elementary material and technical base. It is a crime that the state has not paid due attention until now to such a unique treasury and to the manuscripts that we will always be proud of," the Prime Minister stated while speaking with journalists.

According to the Prime Minister's assessment, the National Centre of Manuscripts is a unique place that every citizen must visit.

"The unique treasury of our country is preserved here. The National Centre of Manuscripts must become very active, and this requires appropriate support and appreciation from the state. I saw unique manuscripts that we can be proud of and that need to be popularized worldwide. Our script is unique, and presenting it properly is yet another task. The state will do everything possible to ensure that our script and culture receive the appreciation they deserve," noted the Prime Minister.
