The Minister presented certificates to the graduates of the Public Governance and Administration Program

On August 25, 2014, Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science, presented certificates to the first cohort of trainees enrolled in the sectoral courses of the public governance and administration program at the LEPL – Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Following a hiatus of several years, the School has resumed its operations. Research was conducted, needs within the public sector were identified, and updated training programs tailored to these needs were developed. Within the framework of the first cohort, a one-month program comprising 4 sectoral courses in public governance and administration (1. Management of Public Organizations, 2. Financial Management and Internal Audit for Public Servants, 3. State Procurement, 4. Human Resource Management and Record Keeping in the Public Sector) was completed by individuals employed in local self-governments across various municipalities of Georgia and in other state structures.

The goal of the LEPL – Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration is to contribute to the implementation of the state strategy, which provides for the retraining and professional development of persons employed in local self-government bodies, entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial legal entities managed by local self-governments, territorial bodies of executive authorities, and legal entities of public law.

A priority of the School is to overcome the shortage of qualified personnel in regions densely populated by ethnic minorities and in high-mountainous regions through the retraining of public servants.

Integration of ethnic minorities into the general public space is served by 8 regional training centers operating in Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, and Kakheti. The state language learning program in the regional centers is implemented for persons employed in the public sector. The purpose of the state language course is for trainees to deepen their knowledge in order to fully perform their official duties, and to draft letters and various documents.

Successful graduates of the regional centers are given the opportunity to take an intensive state language course and continue their studies in sectoral courses at the Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration in Kutaisi.
