Registration begins for those wishing to receive vocational education
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is launching registration for those wishing to acquire vocational education on September 6 of this year, which will last until September 20 inclusive.
All interested persons have the opportunity to master their desired profession with state funding in the fields of tourism, construction, agriculture, information technology, services, and others. Studies are available in 33 state-founded educational institutions that implement vocational educational programs.
Registration can be completed at information centers across Georgia, the Ministry's educational resource centers, and institutions implementing vocational educational programs; applicants must bring an ID card with them.
After the completion of registration, to begin studying at the initial stage, registered applicants must pass vocational testing organized by the National Assessment and Examinations Center of the Ministry. The purpose of the testing is to determine the compliance of the applicants' vocational skills with the profession they have selected. It should also be noted that persons with special educational needs are, as usual, given the opportunity to register in accordance with the aforementioned procedures, but they benefit from alternative vocational testing forms, which are evaluated based on the exploration of the profession by a multidisciplinary team.
Those wishing to transition from stage to stage and continue their studies will, after registering at the vocational educational institution, undergo testing organized by the institution itself.
For the first time, through the completion of the aforementioned procedures, applicants were enrolled in vocational educational programs in the autumn of last year (2013), and for the second time, in the spring of the current year (2014), on the basis of which a total of up to 12,000 applicants were enrolled and received 100% state funding to acquire their desired profession. Of those enrolled, around 100 vocational students were persons with special educational needs.
We would like to remind you that in cooperation with employers, a number of vocational educational programs have been refined. Vocational colleges are equipped with updated infrastructure, a modern material and technical base, and cooperate with various companies that provide internships for vocational students and employment for successful graduates.
