Prime Minister at the new school in the village of Abano
"We are overjoyed, we had an old school and now a new one has been built for us; now it depends on us how well we will study and make our parents and teachers happy," - with these words, Giorgi Sebiskveradze, a student of the new school in the village of Abano, greeted the Prime Minister of Georgia and the Minister of Education and Science, who visited the village of Abano in Kareli, located along the dividing line, today. They inspected the new village school and talked to teachers and parents.
"The beginning of the new academic year is special for you this year - you are starting the school year in a new school, which is very joyful; a major problem in the village has been solved with the construction of the school. I am glad that today the children are happy and the teachers are motivated. For us, the main thing is that every child is given a proper education. If we do not have an educated future generation, our country cannot develop," the Prime Minister told the teachers and their students gathered in the school yard.
According to him, schools are meeting the new academic year with a number of novelties. โThis year, children will receive textbooks for free again, teachers' salaries will gradually increase, and a doctor's office will operate in the school. It is also very important that we are starting serious work on the professional development of teachers. Your school is adapted for persons with disabilities. No one will have mobility issues anymore, and this is important,โ the Prime Minister noted.
The new building of the Abano school, which will be put into operation starting from the new academic year, complies with modern standards - featuring a heating system, a stadium, indoor sports and assembly halls, a library, and a science classroom-laboratory. The school is adapted for students with special educational needs; ramps have been installed at both the main entrance and the entrance to the sports hall. The restrooms are also adapted. The school has a doctor's office and is being equipped with new inventory and technology.

The public school of the village of Abano was destroyed in the 1990s of the last century. For the last 13 years, the school was housed in the building of the Mining and Metallurgy Department, however, due to difficult conditions, at the beginning of the 2013-2014 academic year, the students had to leave this building as well and continued their studies at the public school of the village of Satsikhuri. During the last academic year, the transportation of Abano students was carried out daily by means of transport appointed by the Ministry of Education and Science.
