Registration for vocational educational programs is underway

All interested individuals have the opportunity to master their desired profession with state funding in the fields of tourism, construction, agriculture, information technology, services, and others. Today, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze, visited the Tbilisi Information Center and familiarized herself with the registration process. Registration will continue through September 20.

The registration process involves 19 vocational and 14 higher educational institutions founded by the state, where vocational programs are implemented. The duration of each vocational educational program is determined by the relevant vocational standard. Consequently, the duration of a particular program may range from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 2.5 years.

Registration can be completed using only an identity card at the Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Kobuleti information centers across Georgia, as well as at 70 resource centers and 33 institutions implementing vocational educational programs. Registrars will provide applicants with information regarding the vocational programs offered by the educational institutions.

Upon completion of registration, entering vocational education applicants who have selected a state educational institution must take a vocational skills test organized by the National Assessment and Examinations Center, which serves to ensure the objectivity and transparency of the admission process. Additionally, the purpose of the testing is to identify the skills and capabilities of those wishing to continue their studies in a vocational educational program. Accordingly, there is no admission threshold based on the testing results. The opportunity to receive free education with state funding in state educational institutions will be granted to applicants who are admitted on a competitive basis and surpass the minimum competence threshold during the testing.

Regarding the existing cohort in vocational education who wish to continue their already initiated vocational education and transition from one specific level to the next, their testing will be ensured by the educational institution itself, in accordance with established procedures.

The aforementioned testing and funding scheme applies exclusively to state-founded educational institutions. Admission to private vocational colleges is carried out independently, in accordance with the procedures established by the colleges themselves.

Sample tests are posted on the vocational education web portal (www.vet.ge) and the website of the National Assessment and Examinations Center (www.naec.ge). Registrars will provide additional information and answer applicants' questions.
