The conference is held with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Other supporters of the conference are: the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, the Cultural Events Center of the Tbilisi City Hall, the National Tourism Administration, and the wine company "Schuchmann Wines Georgia".
Scientific interest in historical Tao-Klarjeti is driven by the region's rich history and the cultural significance through which it established its place among the prominent centers of the Christian East in the early Middle Ages.
New realities have brought to the agenda the comprehensive study of Tao-Klarjeti with the broad participation of Georgian, Turkish, and foreign researchers; the planning and implementation of joint international projects; the popularization of the cultural heritage of Tao-Klarjeti; and the study of regions affected by the construction zones of new dams. These are the objectives served by the international conference "Tao-Klarjeti", which the National Centre of Manuscripts has been organizing since 2010.
