Initiatives and Challenges in E-Learning
The forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, and the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, as well as certified trainers trained by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit and e-learning specialists. The participants presented their own programs and presentations on the development of e-learning in their organizations, discussed existing problems, and participated in discussions centered around the main theme.
Over the course of six years of cooperation with Georgia in the field of e-learning, the German organization (GIZ) has made a significant contribution to the development of this teaching direction. The general practical course offered by them has been completed by representatives of all major universities in Georgia, individual ministries, various organizations, and vocational colleges. Several dozen pilot programs have been created.
Today, as the Ministry of Education and Science intends to further expand the scope of teaching using new media and encompass the secondary education stage, it will be effective to utilize the human resources retrained by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). They possess significant experience in both training specialists and creating content enriched with new media.
A small country like Georgia, facing new challenges, particularly needs to raise teacher competencies and mobilize all available resources in order to meet all the demands of the times with dignity.
