The School of Public Administration summarized the past year
The Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia presented its 2014 report and 2015 action plan. Within the framework of the event, a graduation ceremony was also held for the fourth cohort of trainees of the school.
Minister Tamar Sanikidze, Members of Parliament Tinatin Khidasheli, Eliso Chapidze, and Mayor of Kutaisi Shota Murghulia presented certificates confirming the completion of sectoral courses to public servants employed in various regions of Georgia.
The School of Public Administration resumed its operations in 2014 with new educational programs focused on raising the professional level of persons employed in state structures. The target groups of the school are regions compactly populated by ethnic minorities and high-mountainous regions. The process of retraining public servants from the target regions is fully funded by the state.
At the Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration, the retraining of public servants is conducted in the following one-month sectoral courses:
- Management of Public Organizations;
- Financial Management and Internal Audit for Public Servants;
- State Procurement;
- Human Resource Management and Record Keeping in the Public Sector.
The school pays special attention to representatives of ethnic minorities and, through special educational programs, promotes their civic integration.
Parallel to the sectoral courses, a basic state language course is implemented for representatives of ethnic minorities in the school's 8 regional training centers (Dmanisi, Akhalkalaki, Ninotsminda, Tsalka, Bolnisi, Marneuli, Gardabani, and the village of Lambalo in the Sagarejo Municipality). The aim of the course is to teach trainees the fundamentals of the state language, writing, reading, speaking in Georgian, preparing text messages, and drafting letters and documents for the purpose of record keeping.
In November 2014, the school signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Polish National School of Public Administration, which provides for the introduction of new training courses and the development of exchange educational programs based on European experience.
