Construction of a new school has started in Vani Municipality

For 22 years, there has been no school building in the village of Zeda Vani, Vani Municipality. Students have been holding classes in improvised, non-standard classrooms hastily set up in the former Sakrebulo building. By the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the construction of a modern, two-story school began in the village of Zeda Vani in December of last year. Minister Tamar Sanikidze, together with representatives of local self-government, inspected the ongoing construction work and met with the local population.

The population of the village of Zeda Vani had been receiving promises regarding the construction of a new school since the 1990s, but in reality, construction did not begin until 2014. Because students had to study in unbearable conditions and generations were growing up in an unhealthy, completely unsuitable environment, families were leaving the village; as a result, the number of students decreased from 200 to 130 children.

The construction of the school began on December 18, 2014, and is proceeding at a rapid pace. Considering the contractual deadline and the construction pace, the village of Zeda Vani will have a new, two-story school building meeting modern standards by the new academic year, designed for 200 students.

Currently, 131 students study at the Zeda Vani village school. The village is bordered by the high-mountainous villages of Gadidi and Onjokheti. If necessary, the new school will also serve the students of these villages. According to the local population, families that left the village at various times will certainly return, and the reason for this will be precisely the newly built, modernly equipped school of European standards.
