Teaching Legal Issues in Schools
With the aim of increasing the level of awareness on legal issues among public school students, raising legal consciousness, developing civic education, and promoting crime prevention, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Lia Gigauri and Director of the Legal Aid Service Meliton Benidze signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Within the framework of the memorandum, the Legal Aid Service will ensure the organization of seminars, meetings, and public lectures on legal topics for public school students through the active participation of its territorial bodies and structural units.
The basis for the aforementioned cooperation is the subject standard "Citizen" envisaged by the National Curriculum, which provides for the teaching of legal issues in Georgian schools. In our reality, knowledge of legal issues is a priority and highly relevant, as it makes it possible to raise state-conscious and protected citizens.
