Innovations Introduced at the Primary Level of School
Within the framework of the event, demonstration lessons in reading and mathematics were conducted using innovative methods, supplementary educational resources created by the Primary Education Project (G-PriEd), and mathematics manipulatives.
A demonstration was given on how teachers apply the knowledge acquired during training regarding innovative teaching methods and put it into practice; how diverse educational resources and visual aids are utilized in the classroom; and how, with the help of activities proposed by the project, parents are involved in the child's educational process.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Primary Education Project supports the introduction and implementation of innovative, student-centered teaching methods. The target group of the process includes approximately 40,000 primary-level students from all regions of Georgia, as well as Georgian language, Georgian as a second language, and mathematics teachers of grades 1–6 in about 300 public schools.
The project improves primary school students' reading and mathematics skills by introducing new teaching strategies to teachers, providing high-quality educational resources, and enhancing the competencies of subject matter experts in reading and mathematics.
The Primary Education Project also provides for the development and implementation of a school-based professional development model. The project promotes community and parental involvement in the learning process, which makes a significant contribution to creating a rich learning environment in public schools.
Each successful model and acquired experience will be scaled up across all public schools in Georgia.
