Labor Market Research
The labor market research has been ongoing since February of this year, and the preliminary data will be available in April.
An important tool in the fight against unemployment is the systematization of information about the labor market and the institutionalization of research, which makes it possible to make adequate decisions based on information analysis, both at the level of government policy and job seekers. Specifically, labor market analysis will enable us to identify in-demand professions and qualifications, market dynamics, and emerging professions, which will help the government formulate targeted education policies and assist job seekers in planning their career development correctly.
For the purpose of implementing and developing the labor market information system, the Government of Georgia approved the relevant document "On the Approval of the Concept for the Implementation and Development of the Labor Market Information System and its Action Plan". The need for this was driven by the existence of incomplete statistical information about the labor market, as well as the lack of information regarding in-demand professions and qualifications.
In order to correct the aforementioned shortcoming, in accordance with state procurement regulations, a tender was announced in December, and the business consulting group "BCG" was revealed as the winner.
It is noteworthy that the study is unprecedented in terms of both its purpose and its scale. The study of employers will be carried out taking into account their economic activities, and upon completion of the research, we will be able to determine the potential of Georgia's labor market in terms of professions and necessary competencies with maximum accuracy. The information will lay the foundation for the proper planning of educational policy, as the number of in-demand professions will be determined. 6,220 employers will participate in the study.
