Preventive measures against the flu virus continue in schools

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Lia Gigauri and Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director General of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, visited various Tbilisi schools, including Public Schools No. 87 and No. 89, where they personally inspected compliance with recommendations related to the prevention of the flu virus. Furthermore, they reviewed the extent of the school doctor's involvement in this process and the monitoring of student attendance during classes.

Teaching has not been suspended at Tbilisi Public School No. 87, and the educational process is proceeding as usual. The school adheres to all preventive measures and recommendations issued by the World Health Organization and the National Center for Disease Control of Georgia to prevent the spread of the disease.

Regarding Tbilisi Public School No. 89, due to an increase in absences caused by the spread of the virus, the educational process has been suspended at the school for a few days starting from January 26, and disinfection works are currently underway. Classrooms are being wet-cleaned, desks and floors are being treated with appropriate solutions, and all necessary preventive measures are being implemented.

At this stage, the educational process has been suspended in 282 schools due to the spread of the virus. Regarding the suspension of the educational process due to heavy snowfall, accessibility to schools in the regions has improved, and currently, there are 61 schools remaining where the educational process is suspended.

By decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the educational process was suspended for 3 days in those specific schools where the rate of absences exceeds 20%. The missed hours will be made up by utilizing Saturdays. The educational process will resume in all schools on February 1.
