The Minister presented infrastructural projects of higher education and scientific institutions
Up to 6.3 million GEL has been allocated for the rehabilitation works of several academic buildings of Tbilisi State University, the scientific-educational library, and research institutes.
Up to 19.4 million GEL will be spent on the rehabilitation of the academic buildings and research facilities of the Georgian Technical University.
More than 4.5 million GEL will be spent on the rehabilitation of the academic buildings of Ilia State University and the educational and research institutions under its administration.
More than 5.4 million GEL was spent on the rehabilitation and equipping of the University Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University.
Millions of GEL have been allocated for the rehabilitation of state universities located in the regions, including Sokhumi University. Over the past three years, numerous significant infrastructural projects have been carried out in these higher education institutions, including the complete rehabilitation of student dormitories (Zugdidi S. Meskhia State University, Samtskhe-Javakheti University). The process continues today as well.
Since 2013, projects related to equipping higher education institutions and purchasing various equipment have been funded with nearly 8 million GEL. 17 million GEL will be spent on establishing the research and experimental base for water resources management at the Technical University.
In addition to the Ministry's funding, the increased budget has enabled research institutions to carry out infrastructure and scientific-technical base renewal works using their own funding, which is ongoing on a continuous basis.
Based on the amendments to the Law of Georgia and the large-scale infrastructural and equipping works, many of the existing problems in the fields of higher education and science will be resolved. Among the most important are raising the quality of teaching and learning, strengthening the research component in the educational process, realizing the existing scientific potential, and attracting young personnel to science.
