The investment implemented through the activities envisaged by the Teacher and School Director Professional Development Project will help teachers participate and engage in the Teacher Professional Development Scheme of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. As a result, teachers will be able to accumulate the necessary credits and advance to the next career stage, which will be reflected in their salaries.
The objective of the Teacher and School Director Professional Development Project is to improve the teaching and learning process in grades 7-12 in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, English language, geography, and information and communication technologies, as well as to improve school management.
To achieve the set goals, up to 20,000 teachers will be retrained in the aforementioned subjects, and more than 2,000 school-based professional development facilitators will be prepared. Within the framework of the project, all public school directors will be retrained. The aforementioned will contribute to the introduction of a continuous professional development system in general education schools.
The Teacher and School Director Professional Development Project will be implemented by the National Center for Teacher Professional Development. The project will contribute to increasing the capacity of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, as well as creating training materials and necessary resources. The project began in January 2016 and will conclude in the summer of 2019.
