Dmitry Shashkin met with public school directors
Dimitri Shashkin met with the directors of 170 public schools from cities and villages across nearly 70 districts of Georgia and presented his vision regarding ongoing reforms in the education sector. The Minister of Education and Science discussed specific problems existing in the education sector and ways to solve them with the school directors. At the meeting, the Minister focused on recent changes implemented in the national curriculum, specifically the rule for calculating students' trimester and annual grades. According to Dimitri Shashkin, under the new mechanism, not a single tenth of a point is lost for a student, and it objectively reflects their knowledge. The Minister instructed the directors to explain the essence of this change correctly and in detail to every student, teacher, and parent in order to completely eliminate any misunderstandings related to this topic.
At the meeting with the directors, the Minister touched upon several important topics, including: the improvement of teachers' financial conditions, health insurance vouchers, school graduation exams, teacher certification, school registers, textbooks, etc. Dimitri Shashkin also answered the directors' questions regarding the financing of low-enrollment schools, the salaries of directors in subsidized schools, the rehabilitation of school infrastructure, directors' elections, and others.
