School principals actively participated in the ongoing process of the education reform.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia continues meetings with principals and teachers regarding the educational reform implementation plans. Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Irina Abuladze, presented the ongoing reform process to them and discussed all issues related to engaging students in the learning process, the existing school assessment system, the importance of increasing public trust in schools, and the significance of teacher and administration motivation in educational and upbringing directions.
The meeting was held in a discussion format, where school principals shared their experiences and presented their own vision. They spoke about the challenges schools have been facing for years. Their attention was focused on the necessity of a safe school, increasing teacher motivation, and developing high-order thinking skills in students.
“We discussed all details accompanying the reform implementation process with school principals. They spoke openly and frankly about the problems accumulated in schools over the years. Such meetings will continue on a regular basis, as we will plan the changes to be implemented at various stages of the educational reform solely on the basis of such consultations,” stated Irina Abuladze.
The Deputy Minister recommended that schools maintain constant coordination with parents and timely provide information on ongoing processes in the school, including those related to the assessment system.
Similar meetings with principals and teachers of schools in both Tbilisi and the regions will continue at all stages of the educational reform.
