Discussions on the school-level direction of the education reform continue with teachers
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Irina Abuladze, is continuing her working meetings with school representatives. This time, she discussed the ongoing reform process and the ways of its implementation with directors and teachers of regional schools. As in previous meetings, the discussions covered all fundamental issues related to school life that will strengthen the school, increase the motivation of teachers and students, make the learning process interesting, and raise the quality of teaching.
โSystemic meetings demonstrate how different the situation is in regional schools. However, the directors openly stated that the abolition of graduation exams will improve the situation in schools and students will return to the learning process. At the meeting, we also discussed additional mechanisms that will be developed and implemented within the framework of the reform to increase students' interest in the learning process and provide teachers with more opportunities for professional development,โ stated Irina Abuladze.
During the interactive meeting, directors and teachers expressed their views on the implementation of the educational reform and spoke about problems that are identical in both urban and rural areas. They also focused on specific issues characteristic only of regional schools.
It was noted at the meeting that the reform of the education system must begin at school, with the comprehensive involvement of both teachers and parents.
The meeting was also attended by Gela Geladze, Head of the Educational Institution Mandaturi Service, who provided the directors with information regarding the Advisory Board to be established at schools, which will be responsible for student safety. The direct function of the board will be the prevention of bullying and violence in schools.
Meetings with school representatives will continue on an ongoing basis with all interested parties at all stages of the educational reform, which will facilitate the planning of subsequent changes that will make the reform even more effective.
