Another international success for Georgian students

From February 20 to 25 of this year, the 11th Romanian Masters of Mathematics Olympiad was held in Bucharest, to which only around 25 countries whose representatives achieved the best results at the International Mathematical Olympiad were invited. Taking into account its successes over the past two years, Georgia was given the opportunity for the first time to participate in a competition of such a high level and achieved quite a convincing success—ranking 8th in the country standings, leaving behind such nations as Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, etc.
All four members of the Georgian team are students of the Komarov School. None of them left without a prize in the individual rankings:
- Nikoloz Birkadze – Silver Medal;
- Bakar Gamezardashvili – Silver Medal;
- Teimuraz Toloraia – Bronze Medal;
- Luka Mushkudiani – Honorable Mention.
- The team leaders were: Ivane Gokadze, Dimitri Arabidze, and Saba Lepsveridze.
It is worth noting the success of Georgian representatives in yet another direction at this Olympiad—a geometric problem compiled by Georgian mathematician Giorgi Arabidze was included in the so-called "shortlist" drawn up for the selection of the final six competition problems.
The participation of the national team in the Olympiad was funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport within the framework of the "International Academic Olympiads" subprogram.
