Mikheil Batiashvili spoke with university representatives about the education reform

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Batiashvili, together with representatives of the National Assessment and Examinations Center and the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, held a working meeting with university rectors. During the meeting, all directions of the education reform were discussed, along with the exam-related updates planned for 2020 and mobility procedures.
The Minister detailed to the rectors the decision made by the Prime Minister regarding the increase in funding for the education sector, which, according to him, is an unequivocally positive step, as financial resources are a crucial instrument for decision-making:
โBy the Prime Minister's decision, the education budget is increasing, which is truly a step forward. This has given us the opportunity to think about a new funding model that will be focused on the quality of education. The involvement of all stakeholders in the process of developing this issue is important; therefore, we actively plan to work together with you,โ stated the Minister, emphasizing that within the framework of the education reform, working meetings regarding the introduction of the new examination model will continue intensively with all interested parties.
The meeting between the Minister and the rectors was positively assessed by the university heads. They noted that the involvement of higher education institutions prior to the implementation of the reform is welcome, as joint work will ultimately lead to an agreement on the optimal model. According to them, the reform presented by the Minister deserves a positive assessment because it is systemic, consistent, purposeful, and results-oriented.
