Mikheil Batiashvili: "You are the proudest people of our country, who have raised more than one successful generation."
Within the framework of the education reform, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Batiashvili met with distinguished teachers of Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium and provided them with detailed information regarding the general education reform.
During the meeting with the teachers, the discussion touched upon the significance of the reward offered by the state to retirement-age practicing teachers, which the Minister discussed with them in person.
Mikheil Batiashvili once again thanked the teachers for their many years of fruitful pedagogical activity and noted that their contribution to raising successful generations is invaluable.
"You are the proudest people of our country, having raised numerous successful generations," stated the Minister at the meeting with them.
In turn, the teachers thanked Mikheil Batiashvili for this humane approach and the reward offered to retirement-age practicing teachers:
"The reward offered by the state to retirement-age practicing teachers is, for me personally, an expression of both financial and moral support," stated Natela (Sveta) Fangani, a Russian language teacher at Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium, who has made the decision to retire from the profession.
Within the framework of the education reform, retirement-age distinguished teachers who do not wish to confirm minimum competence and raise their status are granted the privilege, on a voluntary basis in 2019, to receive a one-time monetary reward from the state amounting to two years' total salary; furthermore, they will retain their health insurance package for life (maintaining the conditions of the public school teachers' health insurance voucher).
