Mikheil Batiashvili: "A high-tech center designed for 1,200 trainees will be built in Georgia in the field of vocational education"

Within the framework of "Skills for Georgia โ Georgian-German Vocational Education Days", an agreement was signed between the German KfW Development Bank and Georgia, under which a 23 million euro investment will be made for the development of vocational education.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia:
"A high-tech center designed for 1,200 trainees will be built in Georgia in the field of vocational education. A high-tech center will be established in Georgia in the field of vocational education, which will be a multifunctional hub with an innovative concept and will play an important role in the development of so-called 'skills of the future', the formation of new types of educational services, as well as the generation of new initiatives within the framework of public-private partnership," the Minister stated.
It is of utmost importance that, within the framework of the signed agreement, the implementation of a five-year project will begin this year, which entails the construction and development of a high-tech center (Centre of Excellence) designed for 1,200 trainees in Didi Dighomi, Tbilisi. A modern-type student dormitory will also be located on the territory of the center.
International experts and consultants will be involved in the implementation of the project, who will ensure the preparation of educational programs in compliance with international standards. In addition, they will develop the center's development strategy and action plan, which will ensure the sustainability of the center's future operation.
The operation of the center will play a special role in the development of the construction and logistics sectors, both in terms of training the relevant human resources and through the provision of hub services. High-quality diploma and short-term vocational training and retraining programs in the fields of construction and logistics, meeting labor market demands and international standards, will be implemented in the multifunctional center.
It will also carry out significant activities in terms of hub services, working on the identification of new skills, the development of occupational standards, and teacher training.
New programs and approaches will be piloted in close cooperation with the private sector. It is essential that the success of the center's operation will be tied precisely to close cooperation with the private sector.
It is important that the center will ensure the capacity development of existing vocational educational institutions in the fields of construction and logistics and equip these institutions with new technologies. Within the framework of the project, 3 million euros will be used precisely to equip partner vocational educational institutions, which will play the role of regional representatives.
