The election of school boards of trustees in public schools has been concluded

In the public schools of Georgia where the Board of Trustees elections were held on June 17, 2019, the process concluded in a peaceful environment, without flaws. Out of 2,084 public schools in Georgia, elections were held in 2,071 public schools. Due to the absence of candidates, elections were not held in small-contingent schools and in two public schools located in the territory not controlled by Georgia.
Due to voter turnout failure, elections did not take place in only one school; whereas, due to candidates receiving an equal number of votes, a second round of elections was scheduled in 55 public schools, the date of which will be determined by the school election commission itself within a period of seven calendar days.
The Board of Trustees represents one of the important links in school management, the members of which are elected by parents and teachers. The Board of Trustees elects the school principal, approves the school budget and internal regulations, and also agrees upon the school curriculum. Elections for the school Board of Trustees in public schools are held once every three years.
