Mikheil Batiashvili: "The Unified National Examinations were held in a peaceful atmosphere and in the most comfortable environment possible"

"The 2019 Unified National Exams were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and in a maximally comfortable environment. I wish success to every applicant! I would like to thank the employees of the Center and every agency and individual who contributed to the successful implementation of this crucially important process," stated Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, who summarized the conclusion of the National Exams at a special briefing.
The Minister emphasized the fact that a positive trend regarding delays emerged during this year's exams, as late arrivals decreased compared to the previous year, which is the result of the information campaign conducted by the National Assessment and Examinations Center.
We would like to remind you that this year 23 examination centers were opened in 11 cities of Georgia, and the Ministry did its utmost to ensure that the exams were conducted in a comfortable environment for the applicants. In addition to the fact that all examination centers were equipped with cooling systems, ambulances, rescue services, and the patrol police were constantly mobilized on-site.
An unprecedentedly large number of applicants—nearly 80,000—registered for this year's exams, of whom approximately 95% appeared for the exams and 82% for the grant competition.
As the public is aware, changes were introduced to the examination process this year: in the event that an applicant selects two or more elective subjects and fails one of them, or fails to appear for one of them, they still retain the opportunity to receive a state academic grant.
The grading process of the papers has already begun. The publication of the 2019 exam results will begin in the first days of August with the results of the General Abilities exam.
As for the new model of the Unified National Exams, which will enter into force starting from 2020, detailed information regarding this will be provided to the public in the first half of August.
