Mikheil Batiashvili: "Georgian science is becoming a member of the European scientific family"

Led by Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, the official visit of the Georgian delegation to Brussels continues.
In order to introduce European standards into the Georgian education system and implement joint projects with the European Union, Mikheil Batiashvili met with Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, during the visit, and briefed him on the details of the ongoing comprehensive education reform in Georgia.
“We had a very important meeting with European Commissioner Carlos Moedas. We discussed the ongoing education reform in Georgia. The steps being taken in Georgia received a very positive and favorable evaluation. However, the most important part is the next steps, which imply greater integration with the European Union in terms of education and receiving more benefits from them through the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects. Strong support from the European Union will be reaffirmed by the signing of the document on Georgia’s accession to EURAXESS. All of this will enable every scientist and scientific institution operating in Georgia to enjoy the same privileges as the member states of the European Union. This is a truly unique opportunity – starting tomorrow, almost all European scientific funds and resources will officially become accessible to Georgian scientists. In fact, Georgian science is becoming a member of the European scientific family,” stated Mikheil Batiashvili.
