Mikheil Batiashvili: "David Tvildiani Medical University is one of the first to join the single European space"

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mikheil Batiashvili and Deputy Minister Giorgi Vashakidze congratulated the academic staff and students of David Tvildiani Medical University on the admission of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement to the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). David Tvildiani Medical University is one of the first higher education institutions in Georgia to be included in the EQAR database.
During the meeting, the Minister spoke about the university's inclusion in EQAR and the importance of further aligning Georgian higher education with the European Higher Education Area.
Mikheil Batiashvili: "Congratulations! David Tvildiani Medical University is one of the first to join the single European space! Your programs and diplomas comply with European standards, which means greater reliability, more opportunities, and more European students and partners. You have many successful students, and the single European space will create even more opportunities for them."
The meeting also touched upon Georgia's accession to EURAXESS, the single European research area. According to Mikheil Batiashvili, Georgian scientists will have direct access to the research funds and multi-million research projects of more than 40 EURAXESS member countries, including the "Horizon 2020" program and its sub-programs.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Giorgi Vashakidze briefed the university's academic staff on another significant update: once the medical programs of various higher education institutions undergo accreditation, they will be included in FAIMER, the world's largest medical database. This means that Georgian medical educational programs will comply with World Health Organization standards and will be recognized in Europe, America, and Canada.
On June 27, 2019, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement was registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) (https://www.eqar.eu/register/agencies/agency/?id=59). Registration in EQAR was preceded by a positive evaluation from ENQA and the acquisition of full member status, which the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement achieved in April 2019.
EQAR is a European public-interest organization jointly funded by European governments and stakeholders, which supports transparency and trust-building in higher education, as well as the recognition of education within the European Higher Education Area.
Georgia officially became a member of EURAXESS, the European Union's research and innovation intergovernmental organization, on September 24 of this year.
