The Ministry of Education has initiated the process of issuing state awards for practicing retired teachers

Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, hosted state-awarded retired practical teachers from Tbilisi, Rustavi and Mtskheta at the Ministry, thanked them for their many years of pedagogical activity and wished them success.
During the meeting, the teachers noted that such a dignified step has never been taken by the state in their direction before, and this recognition is unexpected and significant for them. This precedent is also an important incentive for current and future teachers who are embarking on the path of this most difficult profession.
Mikheil Batiashvili: โYour contribution to raising generations is immense. The reform begins with the teacher, and the teacher must have appropriate conditions. The future of the country rests upon the teacher. You have invested immense labor and incredible effort in this cause, and I thank you for your work on behalf of the Ministry, the children, and the parents. I want to express my utmost respect to you. The teacher is the most important person in the country!โ
At the first stage, more than six thousand practical teachers expressed their desire to receive the state award. As an award, they have already received two years' total salary. Practical teachers of retirement age will have another opportunity to express their desire to receive the award until the end of the year.
Within the framework of the reform, teachers who have raised their status will receive increased salaries in October.
