Georgia is participating in the EURAXESS Governing Board meeting for the first time
On October 22-23, a representative conference of EURAXESS member countries, organized by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, was held in Brussels. Georgia participated in the Governing Board meeting for the first time. Zviad Gabisonia, Director General of the Rustaveli Foundation and Georgia's representative to EURAXESS, raised the issue of allocating separate grant projects for Eastern European countries during the development of the European Union's new scientific policy, Horizon Europe. He also spoke about allocating a dedicated space on the EURAXESS platform for the scientific foundations of participating members, where scientific foundations will have the opportunity to establish closer connections with each other and jointly strengthen the "Science Management" system.
Additionally, upon the nomination of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Prof. Zviad Gabisonia, Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, was elected by the relevant structures of the European Commission as a member of the governing boards and as the representative of Georgia to three European Union organizations: the European Research Area Committee (ERAC), the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI), and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Governing Board. ERAC (The European Research Area Committee) serves as the primary advisory body for the development and support of the European Union's science, research, and innovation policies. ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) is a strategic body of the European Union aimed at developing and supporting the research infrastructure of the EU and associated countries. EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) is a European Commission program tasked with replacing expensive international scientific databases with accessible and free scientific databases for member countries.
