Gardening instruction will be introduced in the public school of the village of Mukhrani
Within the framework of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) small grant project - "Strengthening Vocational Education Opportunities in the Shida Kartli Region," the integration of decorative horticulture program elements has begun at Public School No. 1 in the village of Mukhrani, Mtskheta Municipality. The activities planned under the project provide for the development of the school's capacities in the vocational direction. The vocational college "Gantiadi" is also involved in the implementation of the project, which will share its best practices with the public school, thereby assisting the school in introducing vocational training and retraining programs in the field of horticulture.
Today, a presentation of the project was held, during which Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, representatives of the United Nations Development Programme and the Georgian Farmers' Association, as well as other project partners, inspected the garden cultivated for the horticulture program on the school grounds and met with students and their teachers.
Tamar Kitiashvili positively assessed the school's initiative, noting that vocational education and career orientation should begin at school, which is one of the priorities of state policy. According to her, the initiative of the Mukhrani school is a good example of how a vocational education institution and a public school can cooperate and offer interesting activities to young people in the region, which will develop many key skills and be useful to them in life.
