Mikheil Chkhenkeli awarded 60 employees of the Educational Institution Manaturi Service
At the year-end meeting, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, awarded certificates of appreciation to 60 employees of the Educational Institution Mandaturi Service for the conscientious performance of their official duties.
In his speech, Mikheil Chkhenkeli spoke about the steps taken towards forming a safe educational environment that is intolerant of all forms of violence, noting that only in a caring environment does a teenager have the opportunity to fully realize their potential, grow up as an active citizen, and participate in the country's development. From this perspective, the Mandaturi Service, alongside teachers, psychologists, and social workers, plays a crucial role.
“The Mandaturi Service is one of the most important directions of our system, because it is impossible to speak about the development of the quality of education, new academic programs, initiatives, and generally, the New School Model, if a safe environment for children is not created in schools. This is the primary and essential condition for our vision regarding academic development to be truly realized in schools.
I would like to thank you for such great progress in the Mandaturi Service. Although there are quite a few challenges, I am confident that through your professionalism and, most importantly, your attitude, the existing challenges and problems in schools will certainly be overcome.
The most important thing in this profession is the attitude towards children, the love for students, and the creation of a caring atmosphere for them, because without this, the thorough resolution of such problems as the prevention of bullying and other related important challenges is impossible.
While children are at school, you play the role of a parent, because you protect the most important thing – a child's safety,” stated the Minister, and thanked all employees for their efforts.
The Minister spoke at length about the results achieved within the framework of the reform of the Mandaturi Service and emphasized that much work remains to be done to achieve the desired situation.
According to Mikheil Chkhenkeli, starting next year, the Mandaturi Service, in close cooperation with European experts, will begin introducing a school mediation mechanism. The new internet portal befriend.mes.gov.ge will become fully operational, which will significantly contribute to raising public awareness about violence and improving access to information. The retraining of active Mandaturi officers as well as the expansion process will continue. In 2020, the Mandaturi Service will enter an additional 130 public schools.
