Kutaisi hosted the Georgian Youth Boxing Championship
The Georgian Championship among youth boxers was held at the Kutaisi Sports Palace. Champions and prize-winners were identified in 13 weight categories. Shalva Gogoladze, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, attended the bouts alongside Davit Tsiklauri, President of the National Boxing Federation.
The tournament, which featured European champions and medalists, lasted for 3 days. Based on the championship results, the Georgian national team will be formed to participate in the upcoming European Championship in Tbilisi.
Last year, Tbilisi hosted the European Youth Boxing Championship among schoolchildren. The championship received the highest praise from the International Boxing Federation, following which it was decided that the 2020 European Youth Boxing Championship will be held in July, precisely in the capital of Georgia.
