The Embassy of Japan Donated Sakura Saplings to Georgia's Higher Education Institutions

The Embassy of Japan has donated Sakura (cherry blossom) saplings as a gift to various higher education institutions in Georgia. Today, some of these saplings were planted in the inner courtyard of the First Building of Tbilisi State University by Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, along with Tadaharu Uehara, Ambassador of Japan to Georgia, and Giorgi Sharvashidze, Rector of TSU.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli thanked the Embassy of Japan for the gift and expressed hope that the blossoming Sakura trees will become a symbol of friendship between Georgia and Japan.
The Embassy of Japan has already donated more than 100 Sakura saplings to Tbilisi, the majority of which have been planted in the Tbilisi Botanical Garden, while others have been planted in the courtyards of various higher education institutions. Notably, Japanese gardeners selected an exceptionally blossoming variety of Sakura specifically for Tbilisi.
