The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport begins accepting competitive applications for the implementation of vocational skills development orientation courses

Within the framework of the Professional Skills Development Program (WSD Program), the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia begins accepting competitive applications for the purpose of implementing professional skills orientation courses in the following municipalities: Kvareli, Akhmeta, Tetritskaro, Tsalka, Dmanisi, Zestaponi, Terjola, Khoni, Tkibuli, Chiatura, Khashuri, Adigeni, Akhalkalaki, Ninotsminda, Ambrolauri, Oni, Tsageri, Kazbegi, and Lentekhi.
The Professional Skills Development Program for School Students is one of the Ministry's most large-scale initiatives, the aims of which are (1) to assist school students in the process of choosing a profession, (2) to promote the accessibility and popularization of vocational education, (3) to deepen cooperation between general and vocational educational institutions, and (4) to facilitate the acquisition of vocational education for school students. The program was launched in 2017 and has already been completed by more than 15,000 school students. Around 35 vocational education program-implementing institutions and over 600 public schools across Georgia are involved in the program implementation process.
Vocational education program-implementing institutions must submit the following documentation to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia:
- Application form;
- Budget annex;
- A letter from the head of the partner public school (confirming that the school is willing to implement the submitted course in cooperation with the specific college/university);
- A memorandum signed with the beneficiary public school;
- Financial documentation reflecting market research;
- Photo and/or video material depicting the space/room allocated for the implementation of the course.
The submitted applications will be reviewed by a commission established at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, which is authorized to make one of the following decisions based on the review:
- On financing the course;
- On refusing to finance the course (which must be substantiated by appropriate argumentation);
- Recommendation on adjusting the content/budget of the course;
- On financing the course in an amount different from the requested amount (subject to the written consent of the institution).
In order to promote the inclusivity of vocational education and the accessibility of the WSD program, priority will be given to applications that:
- Will provide students of nearby public schools with the opportunity to benefit from the specific course (taking into account the so-called "hub school" model);
- Will be tailored to the professional interests of students and the needs of public schools;
- Will take into account the recommendations of the program evaluation and monitoring process (including regarding content and material-technical issues);
- Will be tailored to the labor market needs of the municipality/local community.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 16, 2020.
